Museum construction photos taken around 1909 by James Ballantyne.
Museum Construction, James Ballantyne
LAC indicate that the construction photos were taken in April 1899. This is based on an inscription on the photograph’s envelope. The Wikipedia entry indicates the site (Appin Place in Stewarton) wasn’t purchased until 1905 and construction didn’t begin until 1906 so it’s more likely that the photos were taken in April 1909.
These pictures were taken by William James Topley just after the museum was built in 1911.
